Limetree Sprays Oil Onto Enfield Green, Contaminates Cisterns
An incident earlier today at the refinery sent droplets of oil into the air, contaminating the water of nearby Enfield Green community.

ST. CROIX, USVI — The Limetree Bay refinery is advising that residents in Enfield Green should not consume the water in their cisterns. Limetree is also advising that residents disconnect all downspouts to their cisterns.
Residents' water was polluted by an incident at Flare Unit #8 on Wednesday that released oil droplets into the air. The oil droplets traveled west. Enfield Green was directly affected, as well as several industrial sites.

Limetree has promised water distribution to the affected communities.
This is the latest of several operating incidents that have affected the surrounding communities in the last six weeks. After today's incident. Limetree Bay has alerted the Environmental Protection Agency that they will temporarily suspend production until further notice.

Limetree Bay has asked that anyone who believes they have been impacted by the oil release should contact Limetree’s Incident hotline at 340-692-3199.
Residents can also report health concerns to the USVI Department of Health, Environmental Health Division at (340) 718-1311 ext. 3709 and the Department of Planning & Natural Resources at (340) 773-1082 ext. 2221.
