Man Drowns While Snorkeling At Hawksnest Beach

A man drowned while snorkeling at Hawknest Beach on St. John on Tuesday, June 29.

ST. JOHN, USVI — On Tuesday, June 29, police responded to reports of a drowning at Hawksnest Beach on St. John. The victim was identified by his family as 77-year-old Brian Kosmal of Chicago, Illinois.

By the time police arrived, other beach-goers were performing CPR on the victim. According to the police report, he had been snorkeling off the beach when the incident happened.

Mr. Kosmal was transported to the Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center for treatment but died from his injuries.
