Police Investigating Death at Sapphire Beach

A 69-year-old woman was found dead in the water at Sapphire Beach. She had been snorkeling with friends and the cause of death is unknown.

ST. THOMAS, USVI — Dawn McIntyre had been snorkeling with friends at Saphhire Beach on June 30 when someone noticed that she was floating motionless in the water. Once pulled to shore, bystanders began performing CPR and Emergency Medical Technicians continued these life-saving efforts as she was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center.

Despite all efforts to revive her, McIntyre was pronounced dead by Schneider Emergency Room medical staff. McIntyre, age 69, was visiting St. Thomas from Jacksonville, Florida.

The official cause of death is unknown pending an autopsy. According to the Virgin Islands Police Department, the investigation into this matter continues.
