Police: Masked Men Shoot Two People In Separate Incidents Monday

ST. THOMAS, USVI — On June 28, the Virgin Islands Police Department responded to two shooting incidents that left two men hospitalized due to gunshot wounds. Both incidents happened in the vicinity of Fosters Plaza.

At roughly 7:31 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of shots fired and a man down in Estate Tutu, near Fosters Plaza. Officers arrived at the area and found a Black male with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, age 43, reported he was approached by two masked men, who shot at him as he was sitting in the area. The men fled the area on foot. The victim was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.

At 7:58 p.m., officers were dispatched back to the Schneider Regional Medical Center in reference to a second gunshot victim, who was brought in via private vehicle. The 25-year-old victim reported he was also in the vicinity of Fosters Plaza when he was approached by three males wearing masks and dressed in all black. He stated that he was shot as the masked-men attempted to rob him of his jewelry.

The VIPD have not confirmed if the same group of masked men were involved in both incidents.

Both incidents are under investigation by the VIPD.
