Season Closed: Queen Conch, Mutton, Lane Snapper
DPNR announced that Queen Conch is closed for fishing from June 1, 2021 until October 31, 2021. Mutton and Lane Snapper seasons also closed.
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — The annual queen conch season is officially closed as of today, June 1. This closure affects the entire territory: St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John.
The Department of Planning and Natural Resources enforces the fishing seasons. They announced last week that harvesting queen conch and the possession of queen conch during the closed season is prohibited. Closing the harvest conserves the population and helps to sustain the fisheries of the Virgin Islands.
The Queen Conch season will re-open on November 1, 2021, and will remain open until midnight, May 31, 2021, or until the 50,000 lb. quota per district is reached, whichever comes first.
