ST. THOMAS, USVI — A Charlotte Amalie High School senior and two Ivanna Eudora Kean High School seniors have tested positive for COVID-19. The announcement came from the Virgin Islands Department of Education and the diagnoses were confirmed by the Virgin Islands Department of Health (VIDOH).

The CAHS student had symptoms for several days before being tested on May 17. They received a positive diagnosis the same day and went into quarantine. Prior to the positive diagnosis, however, the student was in direct contact with several groups and attended the May 13 graduation protests on St. Thomas.

The two IEKHS students are also in quarantine as of May 19. They, too, were in direct contact with several classmates before they tested positive.

The Department of Health is managing contact tracing operations for both high schools and the schools have contacted students' families to inform them of the exposure.

The VIDOH has determined that the affected students, as well as other students with whom they were in close contact, must quarantine and cannot attend graduation ceremonies.
