U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — A summary of police reports and arrests in the territory.
On June 8, at approximately 3:51 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call from a concerned citizen that a male jumped into the Charlotte Amalie waterfront. The male was taken out of the water and transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance for treatment. Despite efforts from medical personnel to revive the male, he was pronounced dead at around 4:48 p.m. The male’s identity is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
On June 7, at roughly 9 a.m., Rosier Smith, age 37 of Contant, turned himself in to police after learning he was wanted for a crime. He was arrested, charged with 1st Degree Assault, Attempted Murder, and Mayhem. Smith allegedly assaulted a male victim by throwing him off a balcony on May 30. Bail for Smith was set at $75,000.

On June 7, at approximately 9:45 p.m., VIPD Domestic Violence Unit detectives arrested 23-year-old Kevin Nelson Soto of Williams Delight, charging him with 2nd Degree Assault, Domestic Violence; Simple Assault & Battery; and Destruction of Property. At around 6:15 p.m. that day, detectives were dispatched to a residence in Estate Upper Love, where a female relative of Soto reported he strangled her during a disagreement. The female sustained visible injuries on her neck and shoulder. Soto was jailed without bail, in accordance with Virgin Islands domestic violence statutes, pending his Advice of Rights hearing.
On June 8, at approximately 3:25 p.m., 31-year-old Rafael A. Ledesma German of Nye Nordsidevej turned himself in to officers of the Traffic Investigation Bureau. He admitted being the driver of the maroon Acura that struck and killed 37-year-old Royson JnoBaptiste on Brookman Road on June 6. He was placed under arrest, charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Bail for Ledesma German was set at $7,500, which he could not post.

On June 6, at around 10 p.m., officers responded to a report of an apparent hit-and-run of a pedestrian on Brookman Road. The investigation revealed the pedestrian was walking across Brookman Road heading east, when a maroon Acura MDX traveling north on the road struck the pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle did not stop after the collision, as required by law. The pedestrian was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries a short time later. The pedestrian was identified by next of kin as 37-year-old Royson JnoBaptiste.
