UVI St. Croix Campus Closes Due To Mass Shooting Threat
UVI administrators received a call on Monday morning that someone was going to open fire on the campus. Investigations revealed no threat.

ST. CROIX, USVI — The University of the Virgin Islands Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix received a threat of an active shooter Monday morning, June 28. The campus shut down and sent a "shelter in place" advisory to the entire University community at approximately 9:30 a.m. Students, faculty and staff were advised to close and secure their doors and to stay where they were.
The VIPD investigated the threat and determined that campus was safe to re-open.
An unidentified person called the University administration on Monday and reported that someone was coming to "shoot up the place," said Toby Derima of the Virgin Island Police Department.

A spokesperson for the University confirmed, "We did receive a threat to the St. Croix campus this morning." The caller was male and the call was received by the information desk at the university library. The caller, who remains unidentified, said that the campus should close and that he would "(expletive) shoot up everyone."
The VIPD investigated the threat and determined that the campus was safe to re-open. At 10:30 a.m, students and staff received a second email stating, "UVI Students and Employees are advised that an 'All Clear’ has been announced on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. The VI Police Department has looked into the threat and will continue to investigate. UVI’s security has increased and will include additional surveillance."
