Virtual Art, Dance and Theater Workshops for Kids at the CMCArts

The Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts is hosting a variety of youth art workshops this year, check out the full schedule.

ST. CROIX, USVI — The Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts announced their line-up of youth classes for May through November. Through a variety of workshops and classes, the CMCArts aims to reach and engage kids in the community.

There are classes for all age and all interests, including yoga, drawing, watercolor and clay studio instruction. There are also music, dance and theater workshops that will culminate in public performances.

All classes and workshops are virtual, made possible by St. Croix Foundation. Families can also apply for youth Generation Pound Scholarships, which are funded by the VI Lottery.

Collage with Alexis Alleyne-Caputo
May 26-27 2021

Collage is easy for a wide range of age-groups and requires little artistic skill to be successful. All ages.

Colour & Creativity with Errol Brewster
June 17 - Jun 24 (two week-long sessions)
An introduction to colour theory. Ages 10-18.

The Art of Storytelling with Chloe
July 21-22 2021
The ancient art of storytelling is one of our richest art forms. Ages 12-18.

Photo Embellishment with Sarah
August 25-26 2021
Using found objects and non-recyclable trash, the participants will embellish a photograph or print. This workshop is about the process and having fun rather than developing a specific art technique. Ages 10 and up.

Salsa September with Rodney Lopez
September 22-23 2021
An opportunity for students to learn the basics of two of the most popular dances from the Latino community and a little about the historical context in which they developed. Ages 14-18.

Symbolic Self-Portraits with Monica
October 23, 2021
Students will learn how to draw their face and its likeness using a face chart and other tips and tricks. Ages 13-18.

Mythologies & Movement with Meryl Murman
November 17-18 2021
This two-part class explores two ancient female deities and their mythologies from different cultures through somatic movement, story sharing and dance. Ages 13-18.
