"We will find you," VIPD Chief Of Police Warns Suspects Who Flee

The VIPD arrested Hezekiah Thompson in Puerto Rico and warned other suspects against fleeing the territory to avoid prosecution.

ST. CROIX, USVI — The St. Croix Chief of Police has a message for suspects on the lam, "We will find you."

The warning came from Sidney Elskoe, St. Croix District Chief of Police, after the Virgin Island Police Department arrested Hezekiah E. Thompson, age 18, in Puerto Rico. Thompson is accused of firing shots at an unnamed individual near Clifton Hill in February 2020. Thompson left the Territory but was ultimately located in Puerto Rico, where VIPD detectives arrested him on May 4, 2021.

“We have the resources and the tenacity to find suspects of crime, even if they leave the territory. Let this arrest be an example to everyone who thinks they can leave the Virgin Islands and get away. ” Chief Elskoe said.

Now back in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Thompson has been charged with 1st Degree Attempted Murder, 3rd Degree Assault, 1st Degree Reckless Endangerment, Carrying a Firearm Openly or Concealed, Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition, and Discharging or Aiming a Firearm. He was unable to post the $250,000 bail and remains in custody of the Bureau of Corrections.
