Could Cicadas Be the Perfect Summer Snack?
Considered a delicacy in some parts of the world, these bugs in your backyard could be a newfound treat.

Hello! I may be a familiar face to some of you as I've been the local editor for North Branford for almost two years and lived in Branford for the last four years. If you don't know me, I hope to meet you soon!
I moved to North Branford in second grade and my parents still live in the house I grew up in (Hi Mom and Dad!). I graduated from North Branford High School in 1997 where I was involved in the drama club, Peer Advocates, manager of the hockey team and a JV soccer player for three years (athletics obviously weren't my strong suit!).
After high school, I went to Southern Connecticut State University. It took a while to figure out exactly what I wanted to major in, but once I took my first journalism class, I was hooked. I worked at Shore Publishing for seven years, including six as the sports editor.
I've been the local editor for North Branford Patch since March 2011 and in the beginning of 2013, I also took on Branford Patch. Throughout this time, I have enjoyed learning more about the towns, meeting so many wonderful people and seeing how the residents really look out for each other.
I'd love to hear from you with comments, questions, story ideas, and other local happenings so feel free to email me at jenn.mcculloch@patch.com or call me at 203-517-7541.
