Patricia Newberry, Patch Staff

Patricia Gallagher Newberry teaches journalism at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She joined the faculty in 1997 after about 15 years as a newspaper reporter, columnist and editor. In addition to her classroom duties -- where she teaches everything from Journalism 101 to senior capstone courses -- Newberry handles special events, internship, student media and other duties for the Department of Media, Journalism & Film. She also serves on the national board of the Society of Professional Journalists. She is serving as a Patch editor in the fall of 2016 in a pilot version of Miami's Public Affairs Reporting course with co-instructor Chris Graves, columnist with The Cincinnati Enquirer. Newberry and her husband, Doug, live in Cincinnati with their three children, all college students.
