Sandee Oshiro started out in newspapers and moved to the digital side of news. She hasn't looked back.
She began as a general assignment reporter at West Hawaii Today, KHVH Radio and The Honolulu Advertiser. As a reporter, she covered natural disasters, county councils, governors, elections, labor disputes and local businesses. At the Advertiser, she served as assistant city editor, business section editor, digital news director and managing editor/digital. She managed the launch of the Advertiser's website and directed the development of its iPhone app.
She has served as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Hawaii journalism program and Chaminade University's communications program.
When she is not thinking about journalism or producing it, she is keeping her family and its mini daschund more or less fed and on track. She is also active with the Autism Society of Hawaii and coordinates a support group for young adults on the autism spectrum.
