• Amid lawmaker concerns, Va. transportation board to consider rail and trail plan in January • Virginia Mercury (virginiamercury.com) — State transportation leaders are advancing a plan to buy the long-idle Shenandoah rail corridor that runs from Front Royal to Broadway, preserving it for a future rail line while building a multi-use trail. The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority supports a rail-with-trail concept, though many public comments favor a trail-only option, and any passenger service through Broadway and on to Harrisonburg would likely be decades away.

• Gobblers down Mustangs for fourth consecutive victory (dnronline.com) — Broadway High’s girls basketball team rolled to a 66–45 home-opening win over Monticello at BHS, notching its fourth straight victory behind 18 points from Ella Yoder. Several Gobblers contributed solid scoring, and Broadway now turns its attention to hosting Harrisonburg in a key Valley District matchup Friday.
