2. Jefferson-Madison Regional Library seeks teen submissions for creative arts magazine (29news.com) — Charlottesville-area teens can now submit original writing and 2-D artwork to the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library’s Teen Creative Arts Magazine, Inkling. Youth ages 11 to 18 in the JMRL service area are invited to share pieces under 1,000 words or visual art, with the library emphasizing authentic, non-AI work and a chance to see their creations on local shelves.

3. UVA extends admissions offers to the first 1225 Class of 2030 applicants (cvillerightnow.com) — UVA has just offered early decision admission to 1,225 students for the Class of 2030, with the announcement coming from Charlottesville and 776 of those offers going to Virginians. The university says these are the first of three decision rounds, with early action decisions due by mid-February and regular decisions by early April, shaping who will soon join the community.

Virginia's fall fire season ends (pcpatriot.com) — From Charlottesville, state forestry officials report Virginia’s fall fire season has ended after 152 wildfires burned 1,733 acres but spared dozens of homes and structures. They warn residents that wildfire risk continues year-round, urging Charlottesville-area families to delay outdoor burning in dry conditions and follow safety tips around debris fires and live Christmas trees this holiday season.
