1 Injured In Tractor Trailer Crash, Fire On I-95: Police
Update: One person was injured and traffic on I-95 southbound was shut down after a sedan crashed into a tractor trailer on Tuesday.

DALE CITY, VA — One person was seriously injured and I-95 southbound was blocked on Tuesday after a sedan and a tractor trailer caught fire in the roadway, according to Virginia State Police. Southbound traffic was brought to a standstill for seven miles.
The fire occurred after Honda sedan crashed into the tractor trailer near the truck scales at mile marker 155, just outside of Dale City in Prince William County, state police said. One person was seriously injured in the crash, authorities said.
Witnesses reported seeing the Honda weave in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed prior to the crash, officials with Virginia State Police said. The Honda attempted to make a sudden lane change when it left the road and struck the guardrail to the right of the highway, according to authorities.

After the sedan struck the guardrail, it reentered the highway and collided with the tractor trailer, police determined. Investigators said the impact caused both vehicles to catch fire.

The driver of the Honda, who has been identified as a 21-year-old man, was flown to The Burn Center at Medstar in Washington D.C. for treatment. His injuries are considered life-threatening, according to authorities.
The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured in the crash.
Virginia State Police said that charges are currently pending and the investigation is still ongoing.
