Anniversary of 9/11

Every year I see my elders donate blood on or around September 11

Whenever I think about September 11, a feeling of sadness rises upon me. Losing one person from a household affects many lives. It’s so hard to even think about the loss of so many innocent families who lost so much on that single day. I cannot even describe my feelings in words. I keep thinking how miserable the attacker’s life would have been that they did not have any value of anyone’s life, including their own. Only if they had true knowledge of their own religion, they would not dare to think doing this awful act. The literal meaning of Islam is peace. Islam is the flag bearer of world peace and offers such teachings that can establish truly solid foundations for peace in the world.

In this respect, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) summarized the teachings of Islam in these words: “A true Muslim is one from whose words and hands, others are at peace.” This teaching makes no distinction between Muslims or non-Muslims, or color or creed. Every human life is sacred.

I belong to Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. I’m just twelve years old and too young to donate my blood but every year I see my elders donate blood on or around September 11, to convey that real Islam helps save the lives of others, not take their lives. I hope the world understands the true Islam, and our true colors as Muslims.
