DALE CITY, VA — Robert Smith, a U.S. Army veteran, discovered late at night he had won $100,000 in the Virginia Lottery's Cash 5 game. What did he do next? The Dale City man said he went to bed and had a great night's sleep.

Smith matched all five numbers in the Dec. 10 night drawing. He bought his winning ticket at Old Bridge Coastal, located at 2010 Old Bridge Road in Woodbridge. The winning numbers for that drawing were 9-15-17-26-30. He used Easy Pick and allowed the computer to randomly select the numbers on the ticket.

Smith said he plans to use his winnings to pay bills and take his wife on a well-deserved vacation. Prince William County, where Smith lives, received more than $39.7 million in Lottery funds for K-12 public education in fiscal year 2019.
