
Dorothy A. Lerch, 64, Woodbridge, VA slipped peacefully away into God’s arms at home with her family around her on Tuesday, October 14, 2014. She was born on May 16, 1950 in Manitowoc, WI the daughter of Wallace and Lucille (Meiselwitz) Wriedt. Dorothy married Terry W. Lerch on September 4, 1971 in Oshkosh, WI. The couple moved to Woodbridge, Virginia in 1988.
Dorothy was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Woodbridge, VA. As a young girl she was a Campfire Girl learning how to sew, cook and craft. She was a bookkeeper at The New American Bank in her early 20’s. In 1991 she became a Hostess with Welcome Wagon in Woodbridge, which later became Welcome Basket for over 10 years welcoming new families to the neighborhood. She was an active volunteer in her kid’s sports events. She enjoyed cross stitch, sewing, crafts, yard work, spending time with her kids, and being on the water. As an Army wife and mother she was very Patriotic.
Survivors include her husband, Colonel (US Army, Retired) Terry of Woodbridge, VA, two sons Jason (Tamera) Lerch of Manassas, VA, Jared Lerch of Ruther Glen, VA, and her daughter Major Tera Lerch of Clarksville, TN; six grandchildren, Alexis, Angel, Jaelyn, Caralyn, Austin, and Logan; two sisters Barb (Rick) Flocker of Kenosha, WI, and Debbie Wriedt of Oshkosh.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral services will be on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 4:00 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 12351 All Saints Pl, Woodbridge, VA with the Reverend Tarja Stevenson officiating. Friends may call on Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Boulevard, Woodbridge, VA on Friday, October 17 from 4:30 to 7:30 and at the church Saturday, October 18, from 3:00 until the hour of service. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.

Also, a special Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, October 25 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1250 Leonard Point Rd, Oshkosh, WI with Rev’s RaeAnn Beebe and Robert Rosenberg officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church from 11:00 until the hour of service.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Orie, Hannah, and Meredith of Heartland Hospice.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations for The Wounded Warrior Project, USO, or The Epilepsy Foundation.
