Gar-Field High Evacuated As a Precaution After 'Unconfirmed Bomb Threat'

School system advises via social media that "all are safe."

Update, 12:30 p.m.:

"Gar-Field HS students and staff have been cleared to return to the building. Lunch will be served to those students who have not already had lunch," said a PWCS Facebook post. "Instruction will resume."

A precautionary evacuation was underway at Gar-Field High School on Thursday morning due to an "unconfirmed bomb threat," Prince William County Public Schools announced on Facebook and Twitter

PWCS said everyone at the school is safe. The initial announcement came around 11:10 a.m. Thursday.

At 11:42 a.m. PWCS posted on Facebook: "All safe and away from Gar-Field building. Police investigating a written threat. No confirmed danger. Do not call or visit. More to come."

A Facebook post by the system reads, "PW police and PWCS Security and Risk Management are on hand to ensure the safety of all staff and students. Refrain from calling or going to the school. Updates to follow."
