Halloween

Halloween originates from a day where some wore masks, danced around the fire, and gave treats to please the “Spirits”. People believe Halloween is a simple and innocent tradition, where they let their children dress up, send them door to door and beg for candy. I feel this action is not only putting children in danger by getting treats from strangers, but it’s also teaching them that it is alright to beg for food.

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The upper hand is better than the lower hand” meaning the upper hand is charitable hand, whereas the lower hand is begging hand. Children should be taught to have pride in having upper hand and be the one who gives. Halloween becomes a form of worshipping the devil, children receive candy to give to the “Spirits” to comfort them including the devil. To me it’s more like confirming that dead spirits and the devil are equivalent to God to the point where they must be pleased. I think we should only worship and worry about pleasing God, the one who created all and everything.
