Halloween

A Disguised Fun

Have you ever thought about what Halloween is? As a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I believe that Halloween is a harmful innovation among people which takes one closer to (satanic worship) . But people only get to look on the fun side of Halloween, which is: Trick-or-treat, putting on scary costumes, and trying to scare away the evil spirits from their home. Even Our worldwide leader has said something about Halloween, Our community worldwide leader, Mirza Masroor Ahmed, said: it should always be remembered that any ‘fun’ that is based on any harmful way is to be avoided. Halloween comes from the old Irish pagan practices and is based on concepts belonging to witches; concepts which trample upon religion and sanctity of homes.

As Halloween approaches, people start to make lots of nonsensical things that are said: magicians are called in who take
animals and crops from people and sacrifice them in a specific way. Bonfire is also part of the ritual and is meant to frighten the dead. The special costumes and masks are also worn to scare the dead. We do not believe in these things to scare the spirits away, nor do we celebrate Halloween because we know that Halloween is the opposite of what we are supposed to do. By deliberately frightening people in their homes, children actually disturb surroundings. The Muslims Holy book Quran states:
“Or, Who answers the distressed person when he calls upon him, and removes the evil, and makes you successors in the earth Is there God besides you? Little is that you reflect (27:63).

So those were (some) reasons why we Ahmadi Muslims don’t believe in Halloween, though it feels like fun... but only disguised.
