Here's Five Tips To Keep Burglars Out of Your Home

There have been recent reports of residential burglaries in the Woodbridge/Dumfries/Triangle area over the past two weeks. Some of these burglaries, and attempted burglaries, have occurred during the day.

Although there has been success in apprehending suspects, there are important measures that can be taken to reduce and deter criminal activity. Please view the below reminders and make your home a difficult target for thieves. Remember:

  • Keep all doors and windows locked, even if at home.
  • Keep your front and rear porch lights on and use motion sensors.
  • If you hear something, DO NOT investigate. Go to a safe room in your home, call the police (911) and stay on the line.
  • Be on the lookout for suspicious persons or activity during the day as well as during evening hours.
  • REPORT all suspicious persons or activity to the police.
