Hylton Rests Starters in Loss to Forest Park
With Kendall Hargrove sitting and other starters resting, Hylton falls to Forest Park.
The Hylton Bulldogs (14-4) fell to the Forest Park Bruins (12-8) 59-46 on Senior Night Tuesday. As each of the Bulldog seniors were escorted by their families on to the court, they were applauded by the Hylton crowd. Hylton’s leading guard Kendall Hargrove did not play in the game, and Hylton head coach Smith rested his star players for most of the game.
With members of a small crowd of Hylton students shouting “It’s a scrimmage,” the Bruins led for most of the game in a sloppy game for both teams. Forest Park led at the end of the first quarter 14-17 on the strength of 10 points from guard Dominique Majors. Coming into the game, Majors averaged just over 20 points per game, and he went on to score 20 points against Hylton.
Jaren Melvin, the 6-foot-7 sophomore, scored seven points in the first half and 12 points in the game. By the end of the second half, the Bruins opened the lead up to eight points leading 32-24. The highlight of the game was senior Troy Tyler breaking away and dunking to lead 48-36 at the end of the third quarter.
