Prince William Celebrates 'Recycles Day' at Landfill Oct. 18

The annual Prince William Recycles Day kicks off Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 14811 Dumfries Road in Manassas.

The Prince William County Landfill will host its annual Prince William Recycles Day event Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free event features two performances by GoodLife Theatre’s Recycling Pirates as well as games, prizes, face painting, free food, a recycled art contest, interactive equipment displays and landfill tours.

The family-friendly event helps teach residents more about the importance of recycling, reuse and waste reduction in Prince William County and how it benefits the environment and the economy.

The Recycling Pirates, a rollicking musical about puppets created from trash that “sail the urban seas looking for things to recycle, reuse, reduce and repair” will take the stage at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Since 1995, Prince William County Solid Waste Division has hosted a recycling education event as a local celebration of America Recycles Day, which is officially Nov. 15 each year.
