Update: FBI Offers Reward for Bank Robber

He fled the Wells Fargo in Ashdale Plaza on foot, heading towards I-95, say Prince William County police.

The FBI has joined the search for the man who held up a Dale City bank Wednesday morning and was last seen heading towards Interstate 95 on foot.

The bureau announced Wednesday afternoon that it’s offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect.

At about 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, the suspect walked into the Wells Fargo bank at 2876 Dale Boulevard, approached the teller counter and passed a note to a teller demanding money, the FBI said.

Captured on a bank surveillance camera, the suspect wore a mask with a skull imprint and a wig with straight shoulder-length hair, the FBI said. He took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing out the door towards I-95.

The bank is in Ashdale Plaza, just west of the interchange of I-95 and Dale Boulevard. No injuries were reported in the robbery, and no weapons were seen, according to the Prince William County police.

The police responded to the bank at 10:27 a.m. and searched the area with a helicopter and a K-9 unit (an officer with a police dog).

The suspect is described as a black male, of unknown age, around 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds with a slender build. He was wearing the wig, the mask, a light blue T-shirt with white lettering, blue jeans, sneakers and sunglasses, the police said.
