The first audience to win was city residents (newsadvance.com) — Danville’s tourism team has been building a strategy around the new Caesars Virginia resort, aiming to turn casino visitors into repeat guests across Southside. Tourism manager Lisa Meriwether and regional partners are working on branding, attractions, and infrastructure so residents benefit from new jobs, investment, and a stronger local identity beyond gaming.

• Danville Schools open new campus after multi-million-dollar renovation project (wsls.com) — Danville Public Schools have opened a newly renovated, $50 million campus in the historic Langston High School building, funded largely by a local sales tax increase. Galileo Magnet School and other programs now share a modern facility that expands pathways for middle and high school students, preserves African American educational history, and consolidates offices to save the division money.
   

• One Injured in Danville House Fire (wakg.com) — A Danville resident suffered burn injuries in a Monday house fire on Mimosa Street, where firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and quickly contained the flames. Both occupants escaped before crews arrived, but the home sustained smoke damage and the Red Cross is helping the displaced residents.
