📰 News we're reading

• Recycle your Christmas tree into a fish habitat at Claytor Lake (wfxrtv.com) — Dublin residents can recycle their real Christmas trees at Claytor Lake State Park, turning them into fish habitat and earning free park admission on drop-off day. Trees, stripped of all decorations, are accepted from Dec. 25 through Feb. 1, 2026 at the marina lot, with a special procedure during the park’s Jan. 9–10 closure. Volunteers are also needed to help prep trees before the February “drop day.”

• Hall, Bonnie Anderston (nrvnews.com) — Dublin readers are mourning Bonnie Sue Anderson Hall, a longtime New River Community College switchboard operator fondly remembered as “The Voice of New River.” Born in Pulaski and having lived in Dublin and beyond, she leaves behind her husband Larry Hall of Dublin, extended family including a brother in Dublin, and many loved ones. Services will be announced later, and the family suggests donations to Tunnel to Towers or Toys for Tots.
