• Amid lawmaker concerns, Va. transportation board to consider rail and trail plan in January • Virginia Mercury (virginiamercury.com) — State transportation leaders are advancing a plan that would buy and preserve the historic rail corridor running from Front Royal to Broadway, potentially combining a new trail with future passenger rail. The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority has agreed to accept $30 million pending a January vote, while local officials and residents remain split over whether to prioritize a cheaper trail-only option or a more expensive rail-with-trail vision.
