Sentencing for shopping cart killer delayed until May 22 (dnronline.com) — A high-profile Harrisonburg murder case has been pushed back, as a judge delayed sentencing for Anthony Eugene Robinson until May 22 so a neuropsychologist can evaluate his mental health. Robinson was convicted of killing two women whose bodies were found behind the Howard Johnson on Linda Lane in Harrisonburg, and a jury has already recommended multiple life sentences and heavy fines.

Harrisonburg Fire Department shares holiday fire prevention tips (whsv.com) — Harrisonburg’s fire chief is urging residents to take extra care with candles, kitchen cooking, and lithium-ion battery chargers so holiday celebrations don’t turn into house fires. Six Sentara hospitals listed among the best for maternity care (13newsnow.com) — Harrisonburg families planning for childbirth may be encouraged to know Sentara RMH Medical Center has been ranked among the nation’s best hospitals for maternity care. The U.S. News & World Report recognition highlights strong outcomes and support for uncomplicated pregnancies across several Sentara facilities in Virginia.
   

4. Donnie Davis Deane (pagevalleynews.com) — A Shenandoah man who received care at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg has passed away at age 72. Donnie Davis Deane, a retired Merck operator and avid outdoorsman, is remembered by family and friends, with private services planned according to his wishes.
   

5. Affordable housing projects in Virginia get boost with $150M in financing (augustafreepress.com) — Harrisonburg is set to gain new affordable and supportive housing thanks to state-backed loans, including funding for Wisteria Gardens senior apartments and the Market Commons PSH project. These awards are part of $150 million supporting 47 developments statewide. Local residents facing high housing costs could see more options as construction moves forward.
