Absentee Voting Begins Friday

If you've got a valid excuse, you can vote before Nov. 6 in person at the elections office or by mail.

The election is Nov. 6, but if you're not going to be here, don't sweat it. You can vote absentee.

Absentee voting begins Friday for Manassas City and Prince William County area residents. You have the option of showing up in person at the  starting Friday or by mailing in your ballot. 

According to the City of Manassas website, the office will be open for in person absentee voting Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Friday, Sept. 21, and Saturday, Oct. 27 and Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Old Town Hall Building at 9025 Center St.

The last day to apply for a ballot by mail is Tuesday, October 30th.

If you would like to cast a ballot in person and you are unable to come in during the week the Manassas Park office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the two Saturdays preceeding a General Election. Absentee voting during the week takes place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Some valid excuses for voting absentee that will pass muster, according to the State Board of Elections:

  • Persons with a physical disability or illness
  • If you're on personal or professional business or vacation
  • For caretakers of confined family members
  • For people who are confined awaiting trial or by conviction of a misdemeanor
  • For active duty members of the uniformed service, or merchant marines, their spouses or dependents
  • For those serving as an election official
  • For students or their spouses.
