MANASSAS, VA ? An Amazon Fresh grocery store, the first in Prince William County, opened its doors on Thursday morning in Manassas. The location is located in the Sudley Manor Square Shopping Center at 7807 Sudley Road.

The store features Just Walk Out technology that allows customers to grab what they need and leave without needing to scan items through a checkout line. Instead, customers can scan a QR code from the Amazon app or swipe a credit or debit card when they enter the store.

The Manassas location is the largest Amazon Fresh facility, Prince William County officials said in a news release. It's the second Amazon fresh location to open in northern Virginia, though two more facilities in Arlington and Lorton will open in the coming weeks.

The store held a ribbon cutting on Thursday morning and will now be open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. every day.

"This location is currently the largest store in the Amazon Fresh network," said Ann B. Wheeler, Chair of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors at Thursday's ribbon cutting. "We are thrilled to welcome Amazon to Prince William County and we celebrate the 150 jobs this grocery store brings to our county."

Amazon said the starting wage at their grocery stores is $15.50 per hour. The store is still hiring for multiple positions. Amazon officials also noted plans to donate surplus food to local food banks.

Pete Candland, who represents the Gainesville district on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, took a pre-opening tour of the Manassas facility last week.

"I am so proud of our county for working together to attract this kind of innovative retail that is going to have such a substantial impact to our community,? Candland said in a news release. "Amazon Fresh ensures the widest selection and best value for our bottom dollar and this location ensures it will serve one of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government's identified emphasis areas."
