Armed Robbery Leads To Shooting In Manassas: Police

A man was shot on Saturday after two suspects assaulted him and tried to steal his backpack, according to Prince William County Police.

MANASSAS, VA — Two unidentified men are accused of shooting and robbing a 24-year-old victim in Manassas on Saturday night, according to the Prince William County Police Department. Authorities are now looking to speak with anyone who could help identify the suspects or may have more information about the incident.

The police department said the robbery occurred between 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 15 and 1 a.m. on Sunday, May 16. The victim said he was near Copeland Drive and Castle Road when two unidentified men approached from behind.

One of the men had a gun and demanded the victim's property, according to the police report. The victim refused to cooperate with the robbery, police said.

When the victim refused to hand over his belongings, one of the suspects struck him with the gun and grabbed the victim's backpack, according to authorities. Eventually, the suspect fired multiple rounds and struck the victim once.

Police said the suspects then fled the area with the victim's backpack. The victim reported that he was missing a wallet, toiletries, and a gun, according to the police report.

The victim reported "significant injuries that were a result of the altercation," police said. The police department did not specify the exact extent of the victim's injuries.

Police described the suspects as Black males wearing all black clothing. One suspect was about five feet eleven inches tall, weighing 180 pounds. He had short black hair and a tattoo on his hand, according to police.

The second suspect was about five feet nine inches tall, and weighed about 170 pounds. He had a thin build, corn rows, and a beard.
