Baseball Dogpile: "I Just Got Hit. I Went Down."

With a win over Maryland last week sending Virginia to the World Series, pitcher Nick Howard was at the center of the traditional baseball dogpile. At the center, and then swiftly under the dogpile.

"It happened so fast," he told ESPN in a post on the art of the dogpile. "I just got hit. I went down… I don't know what happened from there, but it was the longest 30 seconds of my life. I couldn't breathe for a little while. I thought I might die."

Tied at 1-1, Virginia and Vanderbilt take the field Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb. in a winner-take-all final game.

Expect another dogpile.
