Benny's Pizza Opens In Manassas, Runs Out Of Food In Opening Weekend

Benny Capolago's, a new pizza place in Old Town Manassas, had to close early after running out of food during a successful opening weekend.

MANASSAS, VA ? Benny Capolago's, the latest location for the Benny's Pizza chain, celebrated a successful grand opening in Manassas over the weekend. The opening was so successful that the restaurant ran out of food and had to close unexpectedly on Sunday.

"Due to an awesome turnout for our opening, we are completely out of pizza," a sign taped to the restaurant said on Sunday. "We will reopen Monday. We greatly apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks so much!"

The much-anticipated restaurant opened its doors for the first time on Thursday. In the Northern Virginia Foodies Facebook group, pizza lovers from around the region expressed their appreciation for the new pizza joint.

Benny Capolago's convenient location was a common praise. Several foodies said they were glad they wouldn't have to drive down to Fredericksburg for Benny's pizza.

On Facebook on Saturday night, the restaurant posted a photo of their nearly empty cooler, with no pizza dough in sight. The Benny's Pizza chain is known for its enormous pies that measure up to 28 inches.

Benny Capolago's is located at 9209 Center Street, across from the Harris Pavilion. The store was announced earlier this year.

"Downtown Manassas has a great atmosphere and a lot going on," owner Kyle Kerivan said in a news release in February. "It's the perfect place for us to open a new location.
