Rob Hoitt nominated Bill Mayo of Manassas.

Bill is the District Advancement Chairman for the Bull Run District of the Boy Scouts of America. What that all means is that Bill personally is the mentor for every Eagle Scout in Northern Prince William County.

Additionally Bill does all the training for Cub Scout leaders and manages and runs an annual training event (called a Pow-Wow) for the whole Mid-Atlantic area. He also personally runs a Merit Badge Day for local Scouts which offers over 50 badges, and helps hundreds of Scouts each year earn the badges they need to work through the ranks.

But more than that Bill also mentors the parents and the leaders of aspiring Scouts. Bill is a big booming man with a heart of gold. He knows when he needs to nudge, and he’s more than happy to nudge a youth who is in danger of missing his goals. But he also knows when he needs to help talk though his challenges. Because of this, we have hundreds of Eagle Scouts in the area thanks to Bill’s mentorship.
