Drivers Bring Cheer To Fathers At Manassas Senior Facility

More than a dozen vehicles traveled through the campus at Birmingham Green in Manassas to wish the residents Happy Father's Day.

MANASSAS, VA — Birmingham Green, a senior facility in Manassas, held a drive-thru Father's Day Family Parade Saturday. Friends and family members decorated their vehicles and drove through the campus, honking and waving to the Birmingham Green residents who sat outside for the event.

Many of the vehicles were decorated with signs and balloons as a way to wish the dads at Birmingham Green a Happy Father's Day.

Due to the coronavirus crisis, visitation is still restricted at Birmingham Green, which provides nursing home care and assisted living services to low and moderate income Northern Virginians.

Like other assisted living facilities across the country, Birmingham Green has taken steps to protect its residents from the coronavirus. Several residents and staff members at the facility have tested positive for the coronavirus during the pandemic.

Birmingham Green officials said the parade was a good way to lift the spirits of the residents at a time of social distancing.
