Family of Five Displaced in Lake Jackson Fire

Three adults and two children have been displaced by a single-family home fire in the 8400 block of

Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue said that The Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.

"Upon arrival, fire and rescue units encountered heavy fire and smoke conditions showing from all sides including the basement of the home," said a news release from the department. "Units proceeded to attack, suppress and extinguish the fire."

The department said that preliminary damage to the home is estimated at $20,000. 

The origin and cause of the fire are still under investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office.
