What mentor taught about success: Coach Beaty has been my football coach for 3 years and he was also my advanced weight lifting teacher at OPHS. In the years I played football for Coach Beaty he always pushed us to achieve new things that we never thought we could do.Sometimes it’s hard being on a big team because coaches may not be able to help you with certain things but Coach Beaty made sure that we all knew what we were doing before we moved on to the next play.Coach Beaty wanted us to play to win but he also wanted us to enjoy the game. If you aren’t having fun it makes it harder to succeed. Coach Beaty always makes sure that we are playing with our hearts because that is when we truly play better. Coach Beaty is a very hands-on coach. He will act like he’s a player and show us the play/ drill so we know what to do.

What mentor taught about dealing with failure: Coach Beaty always told us to never give up and to never have our heads down after a lose. Some seasons we struggled greatly but Coach Beaty always kept a very positive attitude. Coach Beaty told us that if we do happen to lose that we should lose wit dignity. He always said, “It’s okay to lose, if you know that you played your heart out”. He taught us that in order to succeed you have to fail.

Best advice from mentor: Like I said in the previous answer Coach Beaty said, “It’s okay to lose, if you know that you played your heart out”. I use that in every day life even if it’s not really a game. I use it when referring to tests. If i know that i studied ! and did the best that I could do on a test then i know that i deserve the grade that I got.
