Jesus in Islam and how I celebrate holidays and the New Year!

Every year in December, the Christian communities around the world celebrate the holiday Christmas.

Every year in December, the Christian communities around the world celebrate the holiday Christmas. As Muslims, we do not celebrate Christmas, but we like to see others celebrate and I like to see the lights and trees put up in the holiday season.

Jesus (peace be on him) is mentioned many times in the Holy Quran! So, as Muslims, we honor him.

Following Christmas, is the New Year’s festivity. As a Muslim I do not actually celebrate it in the way many societies and countries do, but counting it as a holiday we send wishes, greeting cards and presents and exchange wishes of Happy New Year. Most importantly, as an Ahmadi Muslim my family and I make special Prayers on New Year’s Eve and ask God for a good beginning in the coming year.

I always try to give my teachers and neighbors cards and it feels good. This year I am giving online cards and will try to send some gifts virtually and It feels great to share happiness! I think that we all will be very happy to end this year and I think that this virtual year was a year of learning about a whole new way of “normal” living.

I am very very very excited for the New Year. Really excited! So what am I excited for? A lot of things are what everyone is excited about, but some are things that aren’t on many people’s list for my 6th grade year:

  • COVID vaccine
  • The new year of everything, get to restart.
  • A new calendar
  • All the spring months, which I’ve missed so much!
  • New animals born and flowers blooming
  • Learning new things
  • Happiness
