VIDEO: Lightning Strike In Nokesville Startles Kids, Family Dog
A lightning strike and loud blast Wednesday afternoon sent children racing inside their Nokesville house.
NORTHERN VIRGINIA — With the heat index expected to reach triple-digits again, forecasters are saying another round of strong storms could roll through the region Thursday afternoon and evening.
The National Weather Service said there is a 70-percent chance of showers with thunderstorms possible. Some storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Heat index values could reach as high as 100 in parts of Northern Virginia.
On Wednesday, strong storms produced downed trees, up to three inches of rain, and power outages across the region.

In Nokesville, a family captured the violence of the storm on their Ring camera, InsideNoVa reported. As Tami Myb's family watched the rain from their porch, a visible lightning strike and loud blast just before 4 p.m. Wednesday sent children racing inside the house and startled the family dog, according to the video posted to YouTube.
The Capital Weather Gang is predicting the thunderstorms Thursday and Friday should be "a little less dramatic than Wednesday’s but effective at breaking the heat where they strike."
