Lyft Driver Charged With Sexually Assaulting 17-Year-Old: Police

MANASSAS, VA — A Lyft driver from Gainesville was charged after he was accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The driver, Ejaz Hussain, was arrested on Monday, June 14.

Authorities said the victim purchased a ride to school on Monday morning using the Lyft app. During the ride, the victim and the driver exchanged contact information, according to a report published by the Prince William County Police Department.

Officers determined the victim contacted the driver directly later on Monday morning for a ride home from school. The victim did not use the Lyft app for his ride home.

Authorities claimed the driver sexually assaulted the victim during the ride home. When he arrived at his destination, the victim told a family member what happened.

The family member subsequently contacted the police. No injuries were reported in the assault, police said.

Officers identified the driver as Hussain and arrested him on Monday, according to the report.

Hussain's court date is currently pending. He was held on a $3,500 unsecured bond, according to police. He is charged with one count of sexual battery.
