Man Arrested After Fleeing From Cops, Crashing Vehicle: Police
A man from Manassas was arrested last week after police said he fled from officers before crashing and flipping his vehicle.
MANASSAS, VA ? A Manassas man faces several charges after he drove away from police and crashed his vehicle on Friday, June 10, according to a police report.
Authorities claimed that the man crashed his vehicle into another vehicle that included a 25-year-old woman and two four-year-old boys. The woman and the boys were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.
The police department identified the man as 23-year-old Javiar Kwamel Payne. He was arrested on June 10.

Payne is charged with assault & battery on LEO, hit & run, eluding, reckless driving, obstruction of justice, and driving without a license.
He is currently being held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center without bond. His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 19.

Police officers said they attempted to pull over a speeding vehicle around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Dumfries Road and Minnieville Road in Manassas. The driver refused to stop, and officers did not chase him, according to the police report.
Officers found the same vehicle upside down on Prince William Parkway a short time later, police said. The officers found another vehicle in the area with significant front-end damage, according to the report.
Authorities said a 25-year-old woman and two 4-year-old boys were in the other vehicle. They were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.
The police department identified Payne as the driver who fled from police and flipped his vehicle. Investigators said he didn't properly turn onto Prince William Parkway, struck a median, and hit a traffic sign before flipping and hitting the other vehicle.
Police said Payne pushed officers and tried to run away when they attempted to detain him. He was taken into custody without further incident.
