MANASSAS, VA ? A man was shot and killed on Monday morning in the parking lot of the Hoadly Marketplace in Manassas, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

Authorities described the victim as a 37-year-old man. The police department has not identified the victim by name as they work to notify his family.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. However, investigators noted that the shooting does not appear to be random.

The shooting occurred around 1 a.m. on Monday morning in the parking lot of Hoadly Marketplace in Manassas, according to the police report. The victim was in the parking lot with a female friend when a vehicle approached them.

"At one point during the encounter, shots were fired, striking the victim," the police department wrote in its report.

First responders arrived to provide first aid, but the victim died at the scene, according to authorities.
