Manassas Christmas Parade 2019: Parade Route, Schedule

The annual Manassas Christmas Parade has become one of the largest holiday parades in Northern Virginia.

MANASSAS, VA — The Greater Manassas Christmas Parade has been a fixture in the community, setting a festive mood for the holiday season in Manassas. The 2019 parade, with the theme of Christmas Stories, takes place on Saturday, Dec. 7 starting at 10 a.m.

The event has become one of the largest holiday parades in Northern Virginia, with more than 100 entries, including marching bands, floats, high-flying balloons and more. The parade will have about 2,000 participants and 300 volunteers.

Parking will be available on side streets along the parade route, as well as in the parking garage in Historic Downtown located on Prince William Street. Handicap parking will be available in the Church Street parking lot located behind the 7-11 located at the corner of Grant and Center Street.

The parade is expected to last about two hours. Portable toilets will be located along the parade route. In the event of inclement weather, the parade will continue as scheduled.

  • Mathis Avenue from Liberia Avenue to Sudley Road at 6 a.m.
  • Carriage Lane and Reb Yank Drive at 6 a.m.
  • Sudley Road from Mathis Avenue to Centreville Road at 9:45 a.m.
  • Prescott Avenue from Centreville Road to Center Street at 9:45 a.m.
  • Center Street from Prescott Avenue to Peabody Street at 9:45 a.m.

Each parade entry will be judged by actual judges from the Prince William County court system. Entries will be judged on their Christmas spirit, while performers will be judged on their performance at the judge's viewing stand. Floats will be judged on their adherence to the Christmas Stories theme, as well as their construction effort.

Parade winners will be announced on Facebook and on the parade's website within 48 hours after the parade is held. Parade organizers will also contact the winning entries to invite them to be recognized at a Manassas city council meeting later in December.

The night before the parade, kick off the 2019 holiday season at Santa Lights Manassas, planned for 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 6. The event takes place at 9201 Center Street in Historic Downtown Manassas.
