Manassas Health Inspections: My Empanadas, Old Virginia Smoke, Subway

MANASSAS, VA ? Several restaurants around the Manassas area recorded violations during recent inspections from the Prince William Health District. The most recent round of inspections occurred between July 6 and July 12.

    • Cloths in-use for wiping counters and other equipment surfaces shall be - held in-between uses in sani solution.

    • Employees and conditional employees are not aware of the reporting requirements concerning information about their health and activities as they relate to diseases that are transmissible through food.
    • This food establishment has not established procedures for cleaning up vomiting or diarrheal events that happen in the facility.
    • Unwrapped or uncovered food such as cornbread on the prep table across from the 3 compartment sink.
    • The following food item(s) were observed cold holding at improper temperatures using a calibrated food temperature measuring device:Chicken teriyaki 45 F, Steak 45 F, American cheese 44 F.
    • The food thermometer is not calibrated as necessary to ensure its accuracy.
    • Unsanitary conditions observed at the consumer self-service food buffet/bar : The drink dispenser was not cleaned after soda splash, dirty used plastic cup and a used straw were stored on the soda machine in front.
    • Wiping cloths improperly stored between use.
    • in-use utensils and/or dispensing utensils such as spoons observed improperly stored.
