Manassas Traffic Bottleneck To Be Widened: Report

A segment of Route 28 west of Manassas will be converted from four to six lanes.

MANASSAS, VA — To help ease traffic congestion on Route 28, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors is set to approve a $25.1 million project next month to widen a four-lane segment of the road west of Manassas, according to a media report. The project on Nokesville Road (Route 28) will run from the Prince William Parkway interchange west to Linton Hall Road, converting 1.4 miles into a six-lane divided highway, radio station WTOP reported.

The county plans to award the contract for the work to Shirley Contracting, a Lorton construction firm. Construction work on Nokesville Road is scheduled to begin next year, with completion by 2021.

The board is scheduled to vote on the project on March 6, WTOP reported.
