Manassas Woman Stabbed Family Member During Argument: Police

A 29-year-old woman from Manassas stabbed a family member during an argument on Sunday night, the police department said.

MANASSAS, VA ? A Manassas woman stabbed a family member during an argument at her home on Centerton Lane on Sunday night, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

The victim, a 43-year-old man, was taken to a hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.

Investigators identified the woman as 29-year-old Rosa Adelina Galeas Jovel. She is charged with one count of malicious wounding. Her court date is pending and her bond is listed as unavailable.

If convicted, Galeas Jovel could spend the rest of her life in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Sunday at a home on Centerton Lane.

Galeas Jovel and the victim, who is a family member, had an argument that escalated, investigators said. Authorities said she stabbed the man before running to another part of the home where she asked someone for help. She then went to another home nearby, the police department said.

When police officers arrived at the home, they found the victim suffering from a stab wound, according to the police report.

The police officers provided first aid until rescue personnel arrived and took him to a hospital. Hospital staff determined that his injuries were not life threatening, authorities said.

Police officers found Galeas Jovel at the nearby home and took her into custody without incident.
