New Vaccination Site In Manassas, State Takes Over Vaccine Signup

A new vaccine registration system is rolling out for Prince William, and a new vaccination site will open in Manassas on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

MANASSAS, VA — Major changes are in the works for the coronavirus vaccine distribution system in Prince William County with a vaccination site opening, two other sites closing, and the state of Virginia taking over the system to reserve vaccination appointments.

The new vaccination site is coming to Manassas on Tuesday, Feb. 16. The new clinic provides a larger area for vaccine distribution, according to a news release from Prince William's Joint Information Center.

The new vaccination site will be located at the Manassas Mall at 8300 Sudley Road in Manassas. The site will be next to the Autobahn store.

As the new vaccination site opens, the Prince William Health District will close its vaccination clinics at George Mason University's Beacon Hall and at the Kelley Leadership Center. The new site provides more space for vaccine distribution and expansion as vaccine allocations increase.

Officials stressed the changes in vaccine clinics will allow health-care workers to vaccinate people on the waitlist more quickly. According to the news release, the Prince William Health District will increase its number of vaccination stations by 20 by opening the new site and closing the current clinics.

In the news release, officials also announced the county would be shifting to a statewide registration system, as opposed to the current regional waitlist. Those who have already registered for the waitlist do not need to register again. Their information will be automatically uploaded to the statewide site on Tuesday, according to the news release.

As the Prince William Health District transitions between systems, residents will not be able to register for their vaccination from 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12 until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Residents will not be able to check their registration status during this time.

Authorities stressed the transfer to the new registration system will not affect resident's waitlist position, or any previously scheduled vaccination appointments. They also noted that the statewide site will allow residents better access to information about their registration.

More information about the vaccinations in Prince William County can be found on the health district's website.

Residents can also call the county's vaccine call center at 703-872-7759. The call center is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
