Northern Virginia Weather: Choices For Week Ahead

STERLING, VA — One of the more pleasant weekends of the summer is expected to give way to decidedly different conditions for the better part of the work week in the Northern Virginia/DC area. Keep an umbrella handy. That's the word from the National Weather Service outpost in Sterling.

Although sunshine won't be completely absent from the equation, clouds — for the most part — are expected to have the upper hand. Not until Thursday will there not be a chance of rain. On the brighter side, overnight temperatures will remain in the low 60s.

Monday: A slight chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 76. East wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday Night: A chance of showers, mainly after 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. East wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Tuesday: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 73. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Tuesday Night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 82.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 79.
